‘Circular Niro’ is an art ecological project that revolves around ‘circular actions’ taken by people, aimed at revitalizing the ricefield, traditional houses and mountains as a unity in Nirono, Kochi, Japan. I will refer to this area interconnected through underground microbic network and human intervention, as ‘Nirono field’.

Circular actions encompasses ecological revitalizing activities such as working in the rice field, soil improvement around traditional houses, valleys and ridges of mountains to foster air and water circulation.

These activities activate microbiotic workings within and around the Nirono field, which have detoriorated, especially over the fifty years of high economic growth after the second world war through our modern efficient life.

With the aim to regenerate the Nirono field, I started to search for ways to make steps forward since 2019.
